SUMMARY:The 3 Cs of HR Success: Compliance\, Culture\, and Consistency
DESCRIPTION:Common Good Vermont is pleased to partner on this event hosted
by the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits.\n\n\n\n\n\nHuman resources ca
n feel like a lot when you’re leading a small nonprofit without a big HR
team. This three-part series will give you practical guidance\, tools\, a
nd real-world strategies to strengthen your approach to compliance\, cultu
re\, and consistency so you can support your people\, reduce risk\, and ma
nage HR with greater confidence.\n\n\nSeries Details\n\n September 24: HR
Compliance Made Simple for Small Nonprofits\n October 1: Building a Cult
ure Where People Want to Stay\n October 8: The Consistency Advantage: HR
Practices That Strengthen Small Nonprofits\n\nAll sessions are 1:00-2:00 p
m ET.\n\nAll sessions will be recorded and made available to registrants a
fter the live event. Captioning is provided automatically through Zoom.\n\
n&nbsp\;\n\n\nHR Compliance Made Simple for Small Nonprofits | Thursday\,
 September 24 (1-2pm)\nPresented by Linda Hunter\, PHR\, HR Advisor\, Catap
ult\n\nRunning a nonprofit is challenging enough without having to become
an employment law expert. Yet even organizations with limited staff and re
sources are expected to comply with the same workplace laws as larger empl
oyers. One misstep involving employee classification\, leave management\,
harassment complaints\, wage and hour compliance\, or documentation practi
ces can create significant risk.\n\nThis practical webinar is designed for
nonprofit executive directors\, operations leaders\, office managers\, fi
nance professionals\, and anyone who wears the “HR hat” without formal
HR training. Drawing from common compliance challenges faced by small org
 anizations\, this session provides straightforward guidance\, real-world e
xamples\, and actionable tools to help you manage HR responsibilities with
greater confidence. We’ll focus on building practical compliance habits
\, understanding which laws may apply to your organization\, and recognizi
ng when an issue requires additional attention or support. Areas of focus
include wages administration\, leave of absence management\, anti-harassme
nt strategy\, and other workplace policies.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nBuilding a Cultu
re Where People Want to Stay | Thursday\, October 1 (1-2pm)\nPresented by
 Angela Smith\, Founder &amp\; CEO\, Work Nouveau\n\nNonprofits navigate un
certainty every day. Budgets tighten\, priorities shift\, and teams get as
ked to do more with less. Through it all\, culture is deciding who stays a
nd who starts checking out.\n\nHere's the problem: most people think cultu
re means perks. Free snacks\, a nice mission statement\, maybe a happy hou
 r. It's none of that. Culture is what actually happens day to day – how
leaders show up\, what norms get reinforced (or ignored)\, and how people
treat each other.\n\nThis session is for executive directors\, operations
leaders\, office managers\, and anyone holding the people-and-culture bag
(whether or not "HR" is in your title). We're getting right into what actu
ally builds trust\, psychological safety\, and belonging. You'll leave wit
h a way to diagnose where your culture really stands\, and tools and habit
s you can start using immediately.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe Consistency Advantage
 : HR Practices That Strengthen Small Nonprofits | Thursday\, October 8 (1-
 2pm)\nPresented by Chelsea C. Williams\, Founder &amp\; CEO\, Reimagine Ta
lent\n\n42% of employee turnover is preventable (Gallup)\, yet inconsisten
 t hiring\, onboarding\, communication\, documentation\, and performance pr
actices continue to create confusion\, frustration\, and unnecessary risk
for organizations.\n\nAs nonprofits grow\, people practices often evolve o
rganically\, resulting in inconsistent experiences for employees and manag
ers. This interactive session explores how small nonprofits can create pra
ctical\, repeatable HR practices that strengthen the employee experience\,
improve manager confidence\, reduce organizational risk\, and support sus
tainable growth\, without requiring a large HR team.\n\nBy the end of this
session\, participants will be able to:\n\n Understand why consistency i
 s a foundational driver of employee trust\, organizational effectiveness\,
and sustainable growth.\n Identify the essential HR practices every smal
l nonprofit should standardize\, regardless of organization size.\n Recog
nize common areas where inconsistent practices create confusion\, inequity
 \, or unnecessary risk.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenters:\n\n\n\

SUMMARY:K.E.E.P. Financial Coaching
DESCRIPTION:Common Good Vermont is excited to share this opportunity from t
he Green Mountain United Way.\nK.E.E.P. Financial Coaching\nFinancial coac
hing is an emerging practice that helps clients learn to set and achieve t
heir financial goals through learned behavior changes built on the trusted
  relationship between coach and client.\n\nKnowledge\,\nEquity\,\nEmpowerm
ent\, and\nPartnership\n\nThese four elements lead to financial stability\
, financial success\, and financial freedom. This train-the-trainer style
financial coaching program comprises three elements that work together to
create the most benefit for participants and their clients.\n\n Education
: Coaches are trained in both financial literacy skills and coaching skill
s through the Intro to Financial Coaching. Upon completion\, students are
certified as Financial Coaches by Green Mountain United Way. After the ini
tial training is complete\, coaches are invited to attend any or all of th
e additional training we offer on specific topics like budgeting\, credit
building strategies for clients\, and more\, taught by local and regional
experts.\n One-on-one support: Green Mountain United Way’s team of K.E.
E.P. Financial Coaches are available to work with each trained Financial C
oach to help them integrate the practice into their work and their organiz
ation’s work. This is a key way coaches continue to develop their skills
.\n Peer-to-peer support: The Master Coach facilitates peer meetings for
all coaches to offer support\, networking opportunities\, and program inno
vations based on coaches’ on-the-ground experiences working with clients
.\n\nWho can or should become a Financial Coach?\n\nFinancial Coaches are
the individuals working directly with clients on issues impacting that cli
ent’s life\, and whose work with that individual includes a relationship
where coaching them toward life goals would make a difference for the cli
ent’s outcomes. Coaches can work for nonprofit or for-profit organizatio
ns and need to work in a way that enables them to have direct access to cl
ients to be able to discuss personal information\, set goals\, and follow-
up with clients. Coaches also need to be able to record data on a client
’s credit score\, savings levels\, and assets in order to measure a clie
nt’s financial progress.\n\nExamples of roles that would benefit from be
ing a Financial Coach are: Social workers at a Youth Service Bureau\, staf
f at an Agency on Aging who work directly with elders on health\, wellness
\, housing or other issues\, patient navigators\, financial institution (c
redit unions or banks) staff working with individuals toward the goal of h
omeownership\, and high school teachers or school support staff.\n\nWho be
nefits from this program?\n\nThe primary beneficiaries are the clients who
se lives are impacted or complicated by financial issues and who receive f
inancial coaching to help change those outcomes. The secondary benefits go
to individuals trained as coaches. This information will help these staff
members become more financially stable and be more able to navigate finan
cial issues in their own lives\, while also increasing their skill set and
tools they have to help their clients succeed. Your organization will ben
efit from the improved knowledge and practice of both staff and clients an
d will have access to program data (improvements in credit scores\, saving
s rates\, etc.) to use toward your own tracking.\n\nWhat is the commitment
?\n\nWe ask that all Financial Coaches attend all four classes\, participa
te in the discussion\, and make an effort to attend quarterly peer-to-peer
meetings. While we understand that four half-days of training is a challe
nge for many direct service staff\, we believe that the benefits of having
a fully-trained Financial Coach (or two) on your organization’s ability
to deliver services will outweigh the scheduling challenge.\n\nWhat does
it cost?\n\nThere is a fee to participate in classes\, which helps us cove
r our costs and ensures high-quality instruction. Currently\, that fee is
$200 for the four-day training. There is no charge for program participant
s beyond the training fees\, though there are fees for attending additiona
l trainings.\n\nIf you have more questions about whether the K.E.E.P. Fina
ncial Coaching is the right thing for you and your organization\, contact
 Blaire Haggett\, Training Program Manager\, at bhaggett@gmunitedway.org.\n
 \nMonday October 19 &amp\; 26 and November 2 &amp\; 9\, from 9:00am to 12:
00pm.  The cost is $200.00 for all four sessions. \n\nRegister Here\n\nI

SUMMARY:Seeing Around Corners: Financial Forecasting for Nonprofit Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Most nonprofits have an annual budget and regular financial rep
orts. But those tools don't always answer the questions leaders face throu
ghout the year:\n\n Are we still headed where we expected?\n What happen
s if funding changes or arrives later than planned?\n Can we afford to hi
re or expand a program?\n When could cash become tight?\n When do we nee
d to act?\n\nA budget establishes what you expect to happen and is typical
ly developed and approved annually. A financial forecast builds on that pl
an by incorporating what you know today to provide an updated view of wher
e the organization is headed. Unlike the annual budget\, forecasting is re
visited throughout the year as circumstances change and can also be mainta
ined as a rolling 12-month view. Scenario planning takes that visibility a
step further by helping leaders understand what could happen if key assum
ptions change or different decisions are made.\n\nIn this session\, we'll
use a practical framework for creating and using forward visibility\, incl
 uding rolling forecasts\, cash-flow visibility\, key assumptions\, and sce
nario planning:\n\n Understand your current financial reality — where y
ou are today and what is driving your financial position.\n Identify what
matters most going forward — the funding\, expenses\, cash timing\, ass
umptions\, and risks most likely to affect your organization.\n Develop a
forward view — use what you know today to anticipate where the organiza
tion is headed and where financial or cash pressure may emerge.\n Explore
uncertainty and choices — consider how changes in funding\, staffing\,
programs\, timing\, or other key assumptions could affect the outcome.\n
Use the forecast to make decisions — identify when action may be needed
and give leadership and boards better information for evaluating choices.\
n\nParticipants will leave with a clearer understanding of how forecasting
complements annual budgeting and scenario planning\, why it deserves a pl
ace in an organization's ongoing financial management process\, and a prac
tical framework for incorporating greater forward visibility into financia
l leadership. The goal is to help leaders anticipate challenges earlier\,
evaluate decisions more confidently\, and engage their boards in more prod
uctive conversations about the organization's financial future.\n\nLength:
  90 min\; 10:00 - 11:30 am\n\nAudience: Executive Directors and CEOs\, CFO
s and other senior financial leaders\, and board members with financial ov
ersight responsibilities. The session is particularly valuable for leaders
whose organizations rely primarily on annual budgeting and historical fin
ancial reporting and want greater visibility into what lies ahead.\nRegist
er Here\nMeet the Trainer\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMickey Wiles is the founder of Warp

DESCRIPTION:Common Good Vermont is pleased to partner on this event hosted
by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.\n\nLeaders know that the most impo
rtant assets in their organization log off and go home at the end of every
day – and one day – they won’t come back. Whether due to retirement
or resignation\, for happy or sad reasons\, a Knowledge Exodus is inevita
ble. To sustain your impact and avoid the frustration of having to relearn
how to succeed\, nonprofit organizations must understand the value of the
ir team’s knowledge and proactively preserve it.\nIn this session\, we
’ll explore how to identify and preserve institutional knowledge. Attend
ees will learn proven frameworks and practice building a prioritized actio
n plan. By the end of the session\, attendees will have their own roadmap
and know the specific next step to take to reduce their risk.\nThis worksh
op is designed for nonprofit leaders who want to strengthen their organiza
tion’s resilience and reduce single points of risk. No need for a new pl
atform or big initiative. Just simple\, strategic steps your team can take
starting now.\nAttendees will be able to:\n\n\n Describe and prioritize
the specific people and institutional knowledge that matters most to their
success\n Select the best tools and approaches to preserving wisdom –
most of which they likely already own and use\n Build 30-day and 12-month
plans for knowledge retention that are achievable and impactful\n\n\n\n\n
