On Wednesday, the House Government Operations Committee took up H. 233 – An act relating to requirements for State-funded grants. They heard from the bill’s sponsor, Representative Kate Nugent, two Regional Planning Commissions, and as a last minute addition, Common Good Vermont. You can watch the hearing here:
We appreciate the committee’s attention to this bill, and all the nonprofits whose advocacy elevated it as a priority. With the legislature adjourning for Town Meeting Break next week, and just one working week left before the 3/14 crossover deadline when the bill must be voted out of committee to make it out of the House and over to the Senate, it is a longshot that it will make it across the finish line this year.
Please email Common Good Vermont’s Manager of Policy & Strategic Initiatives, Emma Paradis ([email protected]), with any questions or to engage in our advocacy efforts.
Stay tuned for more legislative updates on this and other bills we’re monitoring over the next couple weeks as we approach the mid-point of the session.
