Overview of Organization
Vermont Independent Media is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to the belief that independent journalism is the lifeblood of a healthy democracy. We serve as a vital forum for community participation, civic engagement, and the defense of local news against the trend of corporate media consolidation.
Our Core Programs
The Commons: Our two weekly newspapers, The Commons and Deerfield Valley News, provide award-winning, independent reporting and a robust "Voices" section where diverse perspectives from across Windham County and beyond can engage in civil discourse.
The Media Mentoring Project: We foster the next generation of storytellers and critical thinkers by providing media literacy education and hands-on mentoring for writers, editors, and photographers.

Position Overview
VIM is actively seeking board members who can bring specialized professional experience to our organization’s governance. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in:
