In all corners of Vermont, nonprofit organizations are engaged with or are addressing community safety concerns. Many of us have witnessed the impact of increased rates of public drug use, homelessness, and crime. Nonprofits are also uniquely positioned in their communities as resources, service providers, and problem solvers.
How are community safety concerns impacting your nonprofit? How can nonprofits work collaboratively to enhance safety in our communities? What are possible public policy solutions that support accountability, prevention, and equity? Are we able to articulate a unified voice on community safety issues with policymakers?
Join Common Good Vermont and your peers for an exploratory discussion on community safety. The conversation will be framed with insights from Ruben Garza, executive director of United Way of Windham County, and Shabnam Nolan, executive director of King Street Center. We will then dive into small and full group discussions facilitated by Tom Cheney, executive director of Advance Vermont.
This collaborative event aims to foster dialogue, consider possible solutions, and identify key messaging that reflects the voice of the nonprofit sector. As this is a solutions-focused meeting for nonprofit leaders, we ask that participants come prepared to engage in meaningful and productive discussions, speaking from their direct experience.
This is a virtual meeting.
