NOTE: Date changed from 4/8 -> 6/9.

For centuries, we’ve known that the health of the brain and the body are connected. But now, science can provide insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help you keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Join us to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, volunteerism, the importance of self-care/mental health on your brain, and social engagement. Use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.

Participants will learn to:

  • Identify how certain behaviors affect our brains and bodies
  • List strategies for healthy decision-making in the following areas: Sleep, Smoking, Mental Health, Physical activity, balanced nutrition, cognitive engagement, and social engagement.
  • Explain the benefits of volunteering for long-term brain health

Presented by Deborah Petersen from the Alzheimer’s Association

Deborah is an attorney at a private practice, Petersen Law, specializing in real estate, business, estate planning, trust administration, elder law, and probate matters. She is also a Community Educator and former longtime Board Member for the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter.
