Location: Remote (New England-based)

Reports To: Co-Executive Director

The Center for Health and Learning (CHL) seeks a key leadership team member who seeks to make a meaningful impact at a pivotal time. We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser with the skills and experience to be a “one-person shop” that quickly builds financial support for an organization that has historically been more focused on public grant funding than private philanthropy.

Position Overview

The Director of Development is a pivotal role that drives CHL’s mission through strategic fundraising, grant acquisition, donor cultivation, and innovative development initiatives–with a particular focus on growing CHL’s private funding. The Director of Development reports to CHL’s co-Executive Director and works closely with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors to align fundraising efforts with CHL’s long-term strategic goals. We seek a dynamic leader with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and a deep understanding of donor relations, grant processes, and strategic planning alignment to funding goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising Strategy

– Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan for revenue generation, aligned with organizational goals

– Diversify funding streams, including, but not limited to, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, major gifts, event fundraising, mission outreach and awareness

2. Grant Management

– Support Executive Directors with developing proposals to various funding sources–with an emphasis on new private sources (75%), but also including public sources (25%).

– Collaborate with Executive Directors and other team members to ensure grant compliance and nurture relationships with funders

3. Donor Relations

– Cultivate and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors with a focus on donors who have the potential to make a major investment in CHL

– Implement effective donor stewardship and retention strategies

– Manage the donor database and reporting functions

4. Comprehensive Development Leadership

– Develop compelling fundraising campaigns, including annual giving and special events

– Monitor campaign progress and report on outcomes

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

– Partner with Co-Executive Directors and Board to align fundraising with organizational vision

– Integrate fundraising strategies across the organization

6. Financial Oversight

– Ensure efficient resource allocation to maximize fundraising ROI

7. Performance Analysis

– Implement data-driven fundraising strategies

– Provide regular reports on fundraising metrics and insights, including performance against established goals

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or a related field

– 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or grant writing

– Successful history of meeting or exceeding fundraising and grant acquisition goals

– Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

– Strong organizational and project management abilities

– Proficiency in fundraising software, preferably GiveButter and HubSpot

– Passion for mental health advocacy and the nonprofit sector

Compensation & Benefits

– Salary: $75,000-80,000 (commensurate with experience)

– Full-time, remote position
