Kitchen Coordinator

Common Ground Center is a nonprofit, multi-age arts, education, and outdoor recreation center. We are dedicated to environmental sustainability and strengthening diverse families and communities. We are seeking a kitchen coordinator to join us for our family camp sessions this coming summer. Camp Common Ground runs from July 26 – August 15th and welcomes all families for a week of art, exploration, and fun. Camp Kaliedoscope runs from June 28 – July 1st and welcomes families with autistic children, focusing specifically on a supportive environment where the whole family can relax and enjoy time together.

Applicants who can only commit to EITHER Camp Common Ground or Camp Kaliedoscope will also be considered. Rustic housing and delicious meals are avaliable for all staff at no cost. Please send a resume to [email protected] to apply.

Job requirements:

1. Procuring and ordering all necessary supplies for the creation of meals for the camp population;
2. Working with Cooks to create/follow a menu;
3. Upholding the safety and cleanliness standards of the CGC kitchen throughout the program;
4. Ensuring that the dietary needs of all campers and camp staff are being met in an equitable way;
5. Participating in morning meeting with core staff to help ensure any and all challenges are being met with
regard to kitchen staffing, food safety and general health of the camp;
6. Overseeing the cleanup of the kitchen following the end of each program;
7. Creating and overseeing the kitchen staff scheduling;
8. Organizing kitchen storage and putting away deliveries as deliveries come in;
9. Filling kitchen roles in staff absences;
10. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
i) Current Servsafe certification;
ii) Relevant food service experience in residential, restaurant or school setting;
iii) Current driver’s license and access to vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
iv) Flexibility in planning and creative problem solving;
v) Excellent communication skills and patient management style;
vi) Experience with Vegetarian cooking for large groups.
