Classroom Teacher – Baird School

Website Howard Center

The Baird School, an intensive special education school serving students with emotional-behavioral challenges, is seeking a licensed General Education Classroom Teacher (K-8) for the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates should have an interest in teaching all content areas to a small, self-contained class of approximately 9 students while working as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and responsible professional who loves teaching children with a variety of strengths and challenges. Applicants should have strong classroom management skills and embrace proficiency-based learning. In addition, qualified candidates should be skilled in the areas of differentiated instruction within all major content areas. Experience implementing progress monitoring and MTSS is strongly desired.

Burlington is a vibrant, picturesque community on Lake Champlain and the most culturally diverse city in Vermont. Burlington has an international airport, and is in close proximity to a number of large cities, including Montreal (90 minutes away by car), Boston (45 minutes by air), and New York City (one hour by air). With our excellent schools system, parks, Lake Champlain, and local ski mountains within an hour’s drive, it is not surprising that Burlington routinely finds itself on the “best places in the country to raise children” lists.
