Job Responsibilities:  

The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall administration and fiscal functioning of the agency.  In addition to the oversight of payroll, grant management, budgeting, accounting, Finance Manager engages in proactive annual planning to meet the agency plans and needs in collaboration with the Executive Director and Administrative Team. The Finance Manager is a member of the Administrative Team and reports directly to the Executive Director.

Essential Functions

Accounting:

  • Maintain general ledger, oversight of A/P, A/R, payroll, subsidiary schedules and submission of 1099’s
  • Oversight and reconciliation of bank and investment accounts including monitoring of online bank accounts
  • Administer agency credit card (1 of 2 authorized credit card users)
  • Oversight of all payroll functions
  • Oversight of allocation of income/expenses appropriately to various cost centers including donor database reconciliations
  • Track depreciation, equipment and other capital expenditures
  • Facilitate yearly agency audit
    Responsible for updating accounting and procedures manual
  • Perform other duties as needed, assigned and directed

Budgeting and Reporting: 

  • Track grant match information
  • Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly financial reports
    Ensure that grants are spent according to guidelines and on schedule
  • Prepare grant budgets for new and ongoing grants
  • Monitor grant sub-recipients
  • Share responsibility for grant file upkeep with Grant Manager
  • Manage travel funds/reimbursements
  • Prepare EFSP/FEMA yearly audit
  • Engage in long-term, multi-year budget planning with Executive Director and Finance Committee

Financial Management:

  • Monitor cash flow
  • Supply financial statements for Annual Reports
  • Supply 990 and 990-T information to auditors for filing
  • Update grant salary expense charge-offs
  • Manage stock donations and act as liaison with investment broker
  • Generate and present monthly & quarterly financial statements, cash flow and investment reports and identify financial risks & opportunities

Finance Committee and Board of Directors related Responsibilities:

  • Participate in monthly Board of Directors  Finance Committee meetings
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Committee on agency budget, annual plan, agency audit, internal control and bonus approval if applicable

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Share responsibility for anti-racist, multi-cultural organizational perspective and Steps to End Domestic Violence’s social change mission
  • Support hotline coverage rotation, including after hours, if needed
  • Participate in weekly all-staff meetings, and supervision meetings with supervisor
  • Participate in Agency wide meetings and events
  • Participate in performance evaluations and annual program planning

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of Office and Finance Assistant. Oversight of training and supervision of Administration and Finance volunteers, interns and work study students.

Education:   

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration OR equivalent experience.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Sound understanding of and experience, 3 to 5 years, with non-profit accounting, financial management and budgeting
  • Sound understanding of and experience with financial databases and tools
  • Sound understanding of federal grant guidelines
  • The ability to enthusiastically interact and collaborate with and engage staff members, teams, committees, volunteers, community partners and professional consultants
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Experience with FundEZ preferred, but not required

The pay rate for this position is $20.50 plus benefits.
