4-H Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator

University of Vermont Extension is hiring a .80FTE 4-H Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator with a possibility of increased FTE with additional funding. 4-H is the nation’s positive youth development program that builds skills needed in life and career, through fun, hands-on experiences, delivered in partnership with caring adults. This position is key to expanding 4-H’s capacity by leading volunteer recruitment, partner development and building community collaborations. The applicant should be familiar with outreach and promotion strategies as well as with program development and execution. Programming foci include science, healthy living, and civic engagement as well as building leadership and other workforce skills. Emphasis is placed on ensuring all youth can thrive, including diverse and under-represented audiences

Bachelor’s degree and three years’ related experience in the areas of youth, family, volunteer and/or community development and outreach.  Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, teach and evaluate educational programs. Experience building collaborations and promoting initiatives required. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clear goals. Computer and electronic communication proficiency necessary. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a collaborative environment. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and travel, primarily within the state. Direct experience serving diverse and under-represented populations desired. Must possess a commitment to fostering and supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for all.
