About the Role:
· Position: General Educator at Sheldon Academy
· Location: Rutland, VT 05701 (Relocation required)
· Pay: $23.25 per hour
· Hours: Work 8-hour day shifts (Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm) for a 10-month position, following the school calendar for seasonal breaks and federal holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver direct instruction in core subjects using a team approach.
· Plan, implement, and monitor curriculum based on Vermont State standards, modifying lesson plans as needed.
· Maintain organized educational materials and accurate student records.
· Attend student meetings and consult with outside school districts/agencies.
· Collaborate with the educational team and implement therapeutic methods for student success and safety.
Qualifications:
· B.S. or B.A. in relevant subject area with VT Teaching License (K-8) and valid Vermont driver’s license.
· 2 years of experience with behaviorally/emotionally disturbed children.
· Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills.
· Strong knowledge of core subjects (e.g., Math, Science, English) and understanding of learning, emotional-behavioral challenges, and developmental disabilities.
· Proficient in behavior intervention techniques, relationship management, and emergency response, with basic computer proficiency.
