Vermont Center for Ecostudies (VCE), a conservation science and community engagement organization based in White River Junction, Vermont, is hiring a Director of Science Communications (DoC) to lead the development and implementation of VCE’s outreach strategy. This is a critical role in advancing our mission and achieving conservation outcomes. The position will increase VCE’s on-the-ground conservation impact and will help lead VCE’s work to become a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. The DoC is a story-teller, possessing a vision, enthusiasm, and talent for translating science for diverse audiences and ensuring VCE’s research reaches its highest purposes. The DoC has a demonstrated passion for science and nature and is an outstanding writer and editor, bringing both breadth and depth to VCE’s outreach. Thoroughly integrated into VCE’s development efforts, the successful candidate brings substantive, positive experience in mission-driven communications and a documented return on investment on communications initiatives. Flexibility, innovation and follow through, the ability to work independently while committing to collaborative decision-making, and comfort both leading and working in the background are crucial for success in this role, as are keen attention to detail and commitment to excellence, creativity, and collegiality.
