Natural Resource Outreach Specialist

Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife (Coverts) is a statewide non-profit that works to educate landowners and others about forest stewardship and wildlife management, promoting practices that ensure healthy forests and diverse wildlife habitats.

The Outreach Specialist will help to further the Coverts mission by engaging with Cooperators, state and private experts, and landowners to further build our active peer-to-peer network. The focus will be on educational programming, social media, individual outreach and administrative support.

The office is based in Vergennes, but there is flexibility allowing for a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities and Duties
The position is designed to provide outreach to landowners and the public on forest stewardship, wildlife management and other conservation related topics. Tasks may vary but will include:

• Planning, executing, and evaluating a variety of educational programs both in-person and online related to forestry, wildlife, and land management
• Outreach and communication with forest landowners and other stakeholders
o Designing, editing, and updating informational materials
o Planning, preparing and scheduling social media content
o Updating the Vermont Coverts website
• General administrative duties (data entry, mailings, grant tracking, etc..)

Position Requirements
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, methodical and collaborative. They will be able to multitask and have proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and other software.

This person will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and have experience in public outreach/education and in forestry, wildlife and/or conservation.

Possess strong writing, communication, and community relations skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Some weekend work is required
Must have a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license, mileage reimbursed
Technical skills in use of Canva, Power Point, Zoom, FaceBook and Instagram desirable

This position is for 32 hours per week.
