Network Capacity Specialist

This Network Capacity VISTA will serve low-income people in Vermont by working to better understand the charitable food network/system in Vermont and ultimately take next steps to build the capacity of VF’s network of 215 food shelves and meal sites statewide. Building upon our network’s needs assessment, they will investigate and implement best practices and evaluate which have the potential to be most impactful. This position may be based at the VF’s Brattleboro or Rutland office, and if so, might focus on increasing reach to our network in the Southern half of the state. The position will also focus on increasing partner capacity statewide and will support a stronger and more effective network of food shelves and meal sites across the state. The VISTA will assist VF to have new and better systems in place to do our work in a more efficient and effective way.

3SVT Outreach Systems Specialist

3SVT/SNAP is our first and best defense against food insecurity. This VISTA will support and strengthen the VT Foodbank’s statewide 3SVT/SNAP outreach program, assuring that low-income Vermonters have access to 3SVT; a program proven to lift folks out of poverty. They will elevate awareness of 3SVT among harder-to-reach populations such as older adults, college students, and veterans. They may focus on building capacity in southern VT and will apply an equity lens to the 3SVT team’s outreach efforts. This VISTA will continue to build upon partnerships with community organizations and network partner agencies, they’ll evaluate current outreach systems, develop outreach tools, always with an eye towards diminishing stigma and increasing access.
