Summary: Provide support, advocacy, and information to survivors residing in WFC’s emergency shelter.
Responsible to: Housing Coordinator
Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide direct services to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and their children, including crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, parenting support, information, and referrals
• Be “on call” for the crisis line on rotating nights/weekends
• Facilitate cooperative living & peer support
• Model and actively promote positive, nurturing interactions
between adults and children in shelter
• Communicate shelter expectations to residents as outlined in
the shelter guidelines. Promptly address difficulties or
problems that arise, taking appropriate steps to deal with
emergency situations to maintain the safety of all
• Assist with routine chores and cleaning tasks to ensure the
safety and cleanliness of the shelter
• Assist with the daily living needs of shelter residents,
including access to phone, food, and personal care items
• Model non-violent conflict resolution
• Adhere to organizational policies
• Maintain professional boundaries
• Share in maintaining a work environment that is conducive to
good work and good health
• Other duties as needed
Full-time based on a 35-hour workweek.
Compensation is $19.75/hr. plus an on-call stipend.
