Dear Common Good Community,
I’m delighted to share the news that Lisa Grefe and Emma Paradis have been promoted by United Way of Northwest Vermont to serve as the co-directors of Common Good Vermont!
Emma came to Common Good after graduating from UVM’s Master of Public Administration program. With a background in food systems, community and labor organizing, and nonprofit management, she is currently Manager of Policy and Strategic Initiatives. She has led the planning and delivery of the Vermont Nonprofit Summit, our ongoing campaign for state grant and contract reform, our response to ongoing federal actions, and many other initiatives
Lisa is currently Common Good’s Manager of Learning & Education. She brings a background in psychology, adult learning, coaching, and people analytics and, since joining Common Good, has developed exceptional learning opportunities that strengthen Vermont’s nonprofit sector. Lisa has designed and led our core learning opportunities — the Nonprofit Management and Fundraising and Development certificate programs – as well as our programming with nonprofit consultants, and multiple other learning opportunities.
Working together as co-directors, Emma and Lisa will build on Common Good’s strong foundation while bringing fresh energy and perspectives to our work.

This transition means that I will be stepping down as Common Good’s director, at the end of January. This transition has come with intentionality and extensive planning. I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have worked for such an impactful program!
I look forward to the opportunities for our paths to cross over the next two-plus months.
With gratitude,
Martin Hahn, Director
