Lamoille Community House Board Member

Lamoille Community House

Overview of Organization

The Lamoille Community House is a shelter located in Hyde Park, Vermont. We offer shelter, security, and hope to adults experiencing homelessness. With dignity and kindness, we provide guests with a clean bed, nourishing meals, connection to services, and a safe space to discover their own path toward sustainable housing.

The Lamoille Community House serves people ages 18 and up. We serve populations with
disabling conditions like mental health disabilities, substance use disabilities, chronic and
physical disabilities, and developmental disabilities. We serve those experiencing short term
homelessness and those who are chronically homeless, as long as they meet HUD’s definition of
homelessness. Those ineligible for our services include families with children, and people whose
needs are too great (ie: needing assistance with activities of daily living, needing higher levels of
medical or mental care).

We create a secure space for our neighbors to realize their own potential and discover their path
toward stable housing by offering:
● Safe sanctuary and warm meals to adults experiencing homelessness.
● Paths to possibility in collaboration with community partners.
● Community connections to a wide range of social services.
● Dignity and hope for our guests.

Shelter Programmatic Overview
In Spring 2024 we open our new, 21-bed, year-round shelter facility. We will follow the same programming (and more) as our current seasonal shelter, including:
● Open and staffed 24/7

● Individual rooms for each guest
