Overview of Organization
About Us:
We are in the process of forming GiveCards, a Vermont-based nonprofit launching in early 2026, dedicated to reducing food and clothing insecurity through community partnerships. We are currently forming our Board of Directors.
Note: This is an unpaid position for one year but could be longer.
Our mission is to ensure that more Vermonters have reliable access to food and clothing. With federal government programs providing less and less to feed and clothe those in need, GiveCards mission is clear…to help people in need to get what they need in a timely manner.
The purpose of GiveCards is to bring urgent relief to vulnerable families in poverty who are facing increasing difficulty in feeding their families and providing clothing such as hats, coats, mittens and boots – especially in the cold winter months. Funding cuts for families suffering with food insecurity have added more pressure on those already facing food insecurity, and it is only getting worse.
Partnering with local schools is the best way to make the biggest impact, as the school leaders have the best insight into what is lacking for the children and their families. Our initial outreach with the Winooski School District was met with enthusiasm. Our food and clothing distribution program will provide food and clothing (through DoorDash & Instacart gift cards, for example) to those who cannot afford necessities or who lack access to transportation to enable them to shop in stores. GiveCards food cards will be a game changer for all the families who do not have enough money for food or transportation. The GiveCards enable delivery of meals, groceries and clothes directly to homes or through their school districts to help fight malnutrition and clothing shortages, and it will help eliminate the severe stress that families have when they cannot feed and clothe their children properly.

We’re seeking a committed board member for a one-year position to help guide our strategic direction, promote community partnerships, and strengthen organizational sustainability.

Willing to attend brief quarterly meetings (virtual or in-person) and participate in committees
Willing to help in fundraising brainstorming sessions
Strategizing the most efficient process for getting GiveCards to families in need
