Orange County Parent Child Center
Overview of Organization
The Orange County Parent Child Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Orange and Northern Windsor counties, located at 693, Vt. Rte. 110 in Tunbridge. As a result of independent and collaborative decisions made decades ago by several small Vermont towns, OCPCC has become a Parent Child Center that brings successful outreach programming into its communities. OCPCC serves approximately 500 families each year through its core services: family/child home visits, early childhood services, community playgroups, parent education and support, concrete supports like food and diapers, community development, and resource and referrals.
We are one of 15 Parent Child Centers (PCC) in the state of Vermont that make up the Vermont Parent Child Center Network. Parent Child Centers provide critical services and partner with other service providers to ensure that services are coordinated and effective and that families have access to all the programs they need. The PCCs serve as a home base for Vermont families who need support.
Orange County Parent-Child Center’s service territory is made up of towns from both Orange and Windsor Counties in Central Vermont including: Bethel, Bradford, Braintree, Brookfield, Chelsea, Corinth, Fairlee, Newbury, Randolph, Rochester, Royalton, Stockbridge, Thetford, Topsham, Tunbridge, Vershire, and West Fairlee. OCPCC covers a rural area of approximately 760 square miles of mountainous terrain with a population of more than 32,000 and an average population density of 44 people per square mile, 1,763 under the age of five, nearly 500 in Pre-K, and 8,300 in school. Geographic isolation and lack of affordable public transportation are the major roadblocks families face.
