Join the Conversation: Common Good Vermont Launches Transformation 2035 Action Summits Across Vermont
What will Vermont communities need to thrive over the next decade? And what role should nonprofits play in shaping that future?
Common Good Vermont is excited to bring Transformation 2035 Action Summits to communities across our state as part of a nationwide initiative led by the National Council of Nonprofits. Transformation 2035 is a national, nonpartisan effort that brings nonprofits and communities together to imagine and build the future our country needs. The initiative is designed to strengthen, connect, and mobilize nonprofits over the next decade while developing a shared vision for thriving communities.
Through conversations taking place in communities across the country, Transformation 2035 seeks to identify shared priorities, elevate local experiences and ideas, and create a roadmap for action shaped by the people doing the work every day. Nonprofit leaders, staff, volunteers, partners, and community members are all invited to help shape that vision.
The future of nonprofits cannot be designed by one organization alone. It must be shaped by the people and communities closest to the work. Through Action Summits, participants will imagine what thriving communities could look like in 2035 and identify what needs to change to make that future possible. Insights gathered from these conversations will help inform priorities and action at the local, state, and national levels.
Vermont Action Summit Dates
Common Good Vermont will host four opportunities for Vermonters to participate. Choose the location that’s most convenient for you:
- December 10, 2026 – Southern Vermont region (Manchester, VT)
- Manchester Community Library, 8:30am-12pm
- February 4, 2027 – Central Vermont region (Montpelier, VT)
- Part of CGVT’s Nonprofit Legislative Day at the Vermont State House – exact location TBD
- March 25, 2027 – Northern Vermont region (NEK, VT)

- April 7, 2027 – Virtual statewide session
The virtual session is intended for those who are unable to attend one of the in-person summits and will also serve as a backup opportunity should any in-person date get snowed out.
What to Expect
These interactive summits will bring together nonprofit staff, executive directors, board members, volunteers, funders, community partners, and other stakeholders from across our state to discuss:
- What thriving Vermont communities could look like in 2035
- The challenges and opportunities facing nonprofits
- How nonprofits can become more trusted, connected, resourced, and empowered
- What actions will help build stronger communities over the next decade
Participants will have opportunities to share ideas, connect with peers from across sectors, and contribute to a statewide and national conversation about the future of the nonprofit sector. The feedback gathered through Vermont’s Action Summits will become part of a larger national effort to advance solutions informed by nonprofits and communities.
