Capital City Concerts ( seeks an Executive Director to assist the Board in leading the organization’s transitional growth and development over the next 3 to 5 years. The role is part-time with flexible time and periods of intense attention related to the annual phases of supporting concerts in Vermont’s capital city and surroundings. The salary range is $18,000 to $22,000 for an estimated 625 – 830 hours (30% to 40% FTE) annually and includes opportunities for expansion and growth. Supported by annual evaluations, the position has room for growth in time and compensation. Responsibilities outlined below include marketing & development, fundraising, and operations management, and other duties that may arise. The ED will work in partnership with the founding AD and report directly to the Board.

CCC Mission: Capital City Concerts contributes to the cultural richness of the Vermont community by organizing and presenting excellent chamber music concerts featuring local and world-renowned musicians, fostering the appreciation of and expanding the audience for music in the classical tradition.


  • Take major responsibility for and lead grant research and drafting
  • Manage and grow corporate donations
  • Solicit sponsorships in support of the CCC’s mission
  • Manage and grow annual giving (e.g. creation of flyers, thank you letters, email campaigns, giving networks, analysis of donor groups, creation of new strategies)
  • Draft fundraising reports to donors, board, and others
  • Marketing and Development

Create initiatives that further the organization’s goals

  • Identify and leverage opportunities to expand and take advantage of market changes
  • Manage communication campaigns (e.g. using email software, adjusting timelines and processes, helping shape messaging, issuing press releases, and community calendar submissions, using social media software for both publicity and outreach, assist the AD in scheduling radio PSAs and announcements)


  • Help plan and attend Board meetings
  • Ensure filings to government, licensing organizations, and public reporting (e.g. providing information to the CCC bookkeeper for 1099s)
  • Assist the AD and Board in musician and program communications and support
  • Manage databases (e.g. ticket sales through Square; donor management/fundraising platform),
  • Write checks; and assess and analyze budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and optimize profits
  • Identify challenges and work to find solutions to maximize efficiency and revenue
  • Participate in non-profit governance and co-represent the organization as needed.
