Status: Full Time (40 hours/week), Hybrid
Reports To: SafeSpace Director
Compensation and Benefits:  $23/hour ($47,840 annually), health and dental insurance (100% employer covered), generous paid time off

Pride Center of Vermont (PCVT) is seeking a skilled Advocate to join the SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program. We are looking for an advocate who can share in our direct service work with 2STLGBQ+ survivors of abuse, violence, and harm across Vermont, as well as helping us increase support for 2STLGBQ+ survivors through outreach, education, and facilitating connection.

PCVT celebrates, educates, and advocates with and for Two Spirit, transgender, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, intersex, and HIV-positive (2STLGBQ+) Vermonters. The SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program of PCVT works in trauma-sensitive ways with 2STLGBQ+ people impacted by domestic and sexual violence, bias, hate, discrimination or harassment, and other types of systemic and community harms.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Direct Service Advocacy

  • Support survivors of abuse, violence, and harm through emotional support, safety planning, resource navigation, and advocacy by staffing our support line, anonymous chat, support groups, and in-person advocacy and accompaniment. Participate in documentation and development of this work.
  • Receive Basic Advocacy Training to acquire Crisis Worker Privilege, and participate in ongoing professional development to prevent and respond to violence and to support 2STLGBQ+ survivors of abuse, violence, and harm both within and outside systems;
  • Take regular on-call support line shifts during PCVT business hours;
  • Diligent and meticulous documentation of all client-related support;
  • Develop and maintain resources for 2STLGBQ+ survivors on our Pride Center of VT website and internally.

Outreach, Education, and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other PCVT staff to connect with queer and trans community and develop and distribute outreach materials to service providers and 2STLGBQ+ survivors.
  • Facilitate training about topics related to queer and trans survivor support, accountability, and ending abuse and violence in our communities.
  • Participate in SafeSpace Program meetings, supervision with the Interim Director of the SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program, PCVT wide meetings, and collaborative projects.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2 years of anti-violence advocacy or survivor support experience, other relevant support experience, and/or related study;
  • Lived experience within and/or strong knowledge of 2STLGBQ+ communities;
  • Experience with Google Suite, multitasking, working independently and collaboratively, education/facilitation and curriculum development, and the ability to connect with marginalized people safely while bringing others along in the work;
  • Experience in anti-oppression work, abolition and transformative justice, and conflict, repair, and boundary skills.

This position requires some in person outreach, advocacy, and education work statewide. Primary location is flexible. Reliable means of regular statewide travel required. Please submit your resume and cover letter to [email protected] by Friday, July 19th.
