Montpelier, VT — 05/28/2025 — The Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery (VAMHAR) is proud to announce the reimagining of its statewide learning management system. Formerly known as Recovery University, the platform will now be called the Collective Learning Institute of Vermont (CLI-VT) — a shift that reflects VAMHAR’s deepening commitment to and leadership in fostering collaboration, equity, and innovation in mental health and addiction recovery education.
“We believe that learning is a collective journey,” said Will Roberts, Director of Training at VAMHAR. “The new name speaks to our vision of co-creating a space that uplifts lived experience, advances equitable access to knowledge, and fosters a more connected and compassionate system of care.”
The Collective Learning Institute of Vermont will continue to serve as a dynamic hub for online education and training, but with an expanded mission: to reflect the diversity of Vermont’s recovery and mental health communities and to promote a holistic continuum of care that values every voice.
Highlights of the new platform include:
- Content grounded in lived experience, peer support, and trauma-informed practices
- Interactive training opportunities for providers, peers, and advocates
- Collaborative learning spaces that invite dialogue and co-creation
- Commitment to intersectionality and equitable access to education
In addition to launching a new name and vision, VAMHAR is also actively seeking collaborators — including organizations, educators, and community leaders — to offer trainings, host content, and build shared knowledge through the Collective Learning Institute of VT.
“At a time when our nonprofit system and in particular our health and human services systems are strained budgetarily, we believe that there is an opportunity for us to reshape how we work together, share resources, create economies of scale, and educate ourselves in an interdisciplinary way to be better prepared to serve regardless of the challenges to come.” said Daniel Franklin, Executive Director at VAMHAR. “In an effort to cultivate a movement toward more collaboration and harness our collective capacity, VAMHAR has created a platform where we can bring together educational opportunities not just relevant in our field but across a more integrated system of care that we can and must build together.”
VAMHAR invites individuals and organizations across the state to explore the platform, contribute to its evolution, and become part of a collective effort to create lasting, systemic change.
