2025 Health Insurance Rate Increases: Your Input is Needed

How are health care costs impacting nonprofits?

For 2025, BlueCross BlueShield is proposing average rate increases of 16.3% for individual plans and 19.1% for small group plans. MVP is proposing average rate increases of 11.7% for individual plans and 9.3% for small group plans. Read more here from Vermont Public.

Individuals who purchase health care through Vermont Health Connect and qualify for federal premium tax credits (still in place at least through 2025) won’t be impacted. However, nonprofit employers who purchase insurance for their employees through the small business exchange will see health insurance costs go up by double digits for the third year in a row if the Green Mountain Care Board doesn’t act. Learn more about health insurance for nonprofit employers and employees here.

If your organization purchases insurance through the small business exchange, we want to hear from you and encourage you to submit your own public comments to the Green Mountain Care Board. Comments will be accepted through mid-July.
