Request for Workshop Proposals: Prevention Works! VT Substance Misuse Prevention Conference

Prevention Works! VT invites you to submit a workshop proposal as part of the Substance Misuse Prevention Conference on May 7, 2024 at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee Vermont.

The theme for the conference is Prevention Works: Connections and Community. The goal of the conference is to increase the capacity of qualified prevention professionals (community based, school based, college level etc.) to address prevention needs in their communities through professional development opportunities.

What type of workshops are needed at the conference? We are utilizing “tracks” to organize the workshops based on topics that have been identified by the prevention workforce. The tracks include Vaping, Cannabis, Youth Engagement, Marketing and Communications and General topics.

Workshops should be interactive and hands on with opportunities to apply what is being presented during the scheduled time. Also, all workshops are asked to include addressing health equity as it relates to the proposed topic. You are encouraged to  provide tools, templates and other take away materials. We encourage introductory, intermediate and experienced level workshops.

Workshops are scheduled for 90 minutes. There is also an option for an extended 2 workshop presentation if the topic warrants. Workshops will be run concurrently during two workshop periods.

Who is the intended audience for the conference? Anyone interested in substance misuse prevention is welcome to attend the conference. We encourage community based organization staff, school based staff, college level staff, third space provider staff, state agency staff, board and other volunteers, and Yes! Anyone interested in substance misuse prevention.
