Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 VtSHARES Campaign. VtSHARES is the State Employee workplace giving campaign which offers Employees at the State of Vermont the opportunity to designate payroll deduction donations to specific non-profit(s) organizations here in Vermont. United Way of Northwest Vermont acts as the umbrella for organizations headquartered in and serving Vermonters within Chittenden, Franklin & Grand Isle Counties.
This year has some exciting changes. We are very happy to let you know that due to revisions in eligibility criteria, more organizations will be eligible than in the past. This includes organizations who are small, but mighty, and may have been ineligible in the past due to IRS filing or audit requirements. The State Employee Committee heard your suggestions, as well as those of many State employees who wanted to give to their favorite nonprofits, and have implemented a new set of criteria with the goal of giving more organizations the opportunity to participate.
Please note, this campaign includes only those charities based in Vermont, who have a physical presence and provide direct services to Vermonters.Organizations must provide direct programs or services to Vermonters for one or more of the following areas:
- Environmental
- Health and human services
- Civil and human rights
- Housing, shelter, emergency relief
- Food and nutrition
- Recreation
- Programs or services for Vermonters with special needs
- Day, foster, protective, adoption, and shelter care for children, adults, families, and animals
