“I think what I enjoyed most in the Nonprofit Management course was meeting a group of people who faced the same day-to-day challenges. Each member of the class was engaging and thoughtful and shared so many creative ideas.” -Cheryl Woods, Keene Senior Center

New Presenter Spotlight: Teresa Benevento

The 2019 Certificate in Nonprofit Management cohorts usher in three new trainers. This month, please help us welcome Teresa Benevento who will be facilitating the workshop, Authentic Leadership 101: Begin Within.

At 17 years old, as a junior in high school, Teresa Benevento joined the Vermont Army National Guard, eventually serving a total of 22 years, including 5 months in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. It was during this deployment that she had her “a-ha moment,” feeling called to leadership. Teresa says, “There are all kinds of leadership styles- it’s just understanding yourself, believing in who you are, and understanding how you relate to other people.”

After retiring from the military in 2009, she joined the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as a manager in Human Resources and is currently an instructor with the agency’s Leadership Development Academy. Teresa’s approach begins with an understanding and appreciation of positive leadership. “[It] goes far beyond management and supervision. I believe positive leadership builds community, fosters a growth mindset and supports diversity …”

Teresa is an alumna of Marlboro College’s Graduate School and holds an Executive Certificate in Leadership from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. She counts among her inspirations, Simon Sinek for his ability to bring points together through storytelling. We welcome Teresa to 2019’s team of exceptional leaders!
