Marketing Communications Specialist

Reports to:  Executive Director

Status: Full-time, on-site, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work. MCL will also consider highly qualified candidates preferring part-time, 25-30 hours/week, plus events.

The Role

The Marketing Communications Specialist will engage a creative, proactive, strategic, and experienced professional. You will be adept at developing and writing compelling stories and messaging to engage audiences and inspire actions.

The specialist will frequently collaborate with MCL’s senior leadership. Together, they will create and implement a comprehensive strategic communications plan through multifaceted strategies and tactics. Increasing awareness of MCL —its strategic priorities and value propositions — especially that of MCL as THE vital Community Hub for Manchester and the surrounding towns of Vermont’s Shires – is the focus of the work.

A significant aspect of this role is to execute the ongoing promotion of MCL’s services, programs, events, and partnerships to the community-at-large, its supporters, and potential audiences via print and digital initiatives, including advertisements, email marketing, in-house digital displays, social media, web platforms, posters/flyers/banners, press releases, PR initiatives, special events and more. Additionally, Marketing/Communications will work to grow and diversify philanthropic opportunities and key partnerships.

Education 

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field is required.

Experience 

Three to five years of professional experience and demonstrated functional expertise in communications, including writing and storytelling, social media, graphic design, website development/management, multimedia production, marketing, advertising, or public relations, is preferred. In addition, a portfolio that demonstrates experience with developing, managing, or launching a communications strategy or plan for a business or organization is required.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage MCL’s communications across all platforms and mediums • Coordinate and produce organizational messaging and talking points for press and stakeholders • Support programs with events, acquisitions, exhibits, and reports • Measure and manage key performance indicators for organizational communications efforts across platforms and mediums • Improve, update and manage MCL’s website • Maintain and update media and social media contact Lists • Create and manage a content calendar with schedules for e-newsletters, solicitations, deadlines for stories, needs for photography/videography, etc. • Improve and enhance an inclusive and proactive online newsletter and manage distribution • Maintain social media processes, including the use of third-party applications for scheduling posts and tracking analytics • Edit and consult on written materials, correspondence, talking points, scripts and outreach for Executive Director, staff and Board • Create graphics, writing, editing, and promotional material  to support programs for events or other relevant needs • Work with the Director of Advancment to produce a compelling Annual Report, and other publications as planned by the organization • Assist in the planning, promotion, and successful execution of special events, including photos and video production with MCL staff and external contractors

Compensation

Salary range: $36,000 – $44,000
