The Yestermorrow kitchen is focused on serving a nutritious menu of local, seasonal and organic foods, including vegan and vegetarian options, at each meal to 10 – 40 students and staff. The kitchen team works in an open kitchen environment with lots of daily interaction with students, and are responsible for providing a professional, welcoming, courteous presence to the public.


Meal planning, preparation, serving and clean-up at designated meal times as well as taking responsibility for all noted kitchen tasks and side work.

Maintain a smooth function in kitchen work areas.  Check equipment and communicate necessary repairs to the Kitchen Manager.

Maintain pristine levels of cleanliness on a daily basis including all general preparation and storage areas, dining areas, appliances, equipment and all floors.

Dining room set-up and clean-up at meals. Wash all dishes, utensils, kitchenware, etc.

Describe the food and food philosophy to guests as well as presenting food at designated meal times with appropriate labeling to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Coordinate with the other chefs and staff to accommodate customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions, including but not limited to gluten-free, vegan, or lactose intolerant meals as needed.

Abide by Health Department rules which apply to the kitchen and dining area.

Job Qualifications: 

Experience cooking and serving food for large groups; ability to provide a high level of customer service with constant exposure to the public while accommodating a diverse and constantly changing clientele of students, instructors and staff; an interest in local foods and seasonal cooking; and a self-directed, motivated, and easy-going personality.


This is a seasonal, part time position scheduled at 24 – 32 hours per week. Flexibility is a must.  Weekends are required of this position.  The weekly schedule is based on 2 shifts per day.

Special considerations 

Employees must be able to work interactively in a demanding, fast-paced environment and be able to stand for extended periods of time while cleaning, cooking and serving.  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
