Visitors first experience Vermont’s downtowns or villages from the street. Many communities and business know that having an attractive, pedestrian-friendly street is key to getting people out of their cars to explore their unique mix of stores, shops, and restaurants. To help more municipalities use their streets to grow jobs and their local economy, the state is offering $200,000 in Better Connections grant funds to help communities become friendly to walkers and cyclists. Grant applications are due January 31, 2019. All applicants must participate in a pre-application meeting before December 31, 2018.
