Ben & Jerry’s Foundation announces the opening of the Vermont Equity & Justice Grant program 2024

Request for Proposals

The Ben & Jerry’s Foundation is very pleased to announce the opening of our 2024 Vermont Equity & Justice Grant program with an allocation of $300,000. Beginning this summer, the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation will offer competitive grants of up to $15,000, with an average grant size of $10,000, to Vermont-based, Vermont-focused, non-profit organizations working to address racial, economic, social and environmental disparities in the state. Organizations must have total annual operating budgets of $350,000 or less. Grant decisions are made by a team of Ben & Jerry’s employees from each of our three Vermont office and manufacturing sites.

We will seek out innovative programs that are taking a holistic approach in their work to create fundamental change for Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color in Vermont, those with low-income, as well as other marginalized Vermonters. Grant applicants should demonstrate that they approach their work through the lens of social justice and equity. This program is not intended to fund projects that solely provide direct services to individuals.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • equity in education and early childcare
  • equity in access to safe and affordable housing
  • criminal justice reform
  • workers’ rights
  • equity in access to healthy and affordable food

We will prioritize programs that work to meaningfully engage and intentionally involve and give voice to constituents most impacted by the problem(s) they seek to address.

Process: Proposals may be submitted through our on-line application process by May 1st for review in early June.
