Gopher, operated by Community Rides Vermont, is a new transportation service that aims to meet Vermonter’s everyday transportation needs through convenient, shared mobility, in a zero-emissions fleet of electric vehicles. We are here to provide rides for people to get to work, run errands, access to life sustaining services and provide access to social and recreational activities.
We are looking for a Weekend Operations Supervisor (WOS) who will work Friday, Saturday, Sunday and two other midweek days. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts will be 10-hour shifts in the office. There is flexibility for the other two days to be remote. The WOS will act as the main link between drivers on the road, customers interested in rides, and home base. The WOS’s primary duty is to keep operations running smoothly, which will require frequent communication with drivers, riders, and other partners. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys a fast-paced, dynamic job.

Description and essential functions: 

  • Populate driver manifests for day of and future trips
  • Act as a point of contact for drivers on the road
  • Communicate with partners at Green Mountain Transit regarding ride delivery and vehicle sharing
  • Communicate with drivers about service delivery, problem resolution, information sharing about new procedures, vehicle information, road information
  • Be the first point of contact for incidents and emergencies that come up while drivers are on the road including, but not limited to: crash reports, reports of injury on the job, and others
  • Monitor the route and charge status of Gopher vehicles
    Ability to learn, master and teach others software programs and computer systems utilized for the service
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Conduct initial investigations into customer complaints
  • Answer the phone and explain to client’s information about various transportation programs available to them, including fixed route public transit, demand response public transit services
  • Occasional on-call duties
  • Coordinate with managers as needed, and attend weekly management check-ins
  • Drive passengers as needed
  • Administrative finance and human resources duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree or equivalent in business administration, financial management, or human services and/or a minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, aptitude to learn new systems
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to issues related to poverty and the barriers faced by people with low incomes
  • Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Active listener with excellent communication skills
  • Sound judgement and critical thinking
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, that includes marijuana, and background check – CRVT’s Weekend Operations Supervisor is designated as a “safety-sensitive” position, where a criminal conviction may cause the candidate to be deemed ineligible for hire in that position, regardless of the circumstances.
